| Opening Gates
in Teacher Education, which
will take place between February 12-14, 2001,
is
the first virtual conference for teacher educators where important
issues pertaining to Teacher Education will be discussed. The conference,
as reflected in its title, will emphasize the opening of gates to
new fields and interests, to new ways of thinking and teaching, to
the state of the art in research and to innovative projects.
Our conference
provides the means for you to meet and discuss issues of utmost
importance with colleagues and prominent educators from all areas
of teacher education.
The metaphor
of the gates represents a multifaceted idea:
|
|
from
the old to the new. |
 |
from theory
to practice and back again (our theme). |
Who should
participate in the conference?
Teacher educators, researchers and lecturers from various fields
of specialization who are concerned with pre-service and in-service
education as well as teachers in the field who train other teachers.
How will
the conference be organized?
The conference is organized according to a theme
divided into different topics presented
through a variety of formats, both synchronous
and asynchronous. There will be a 3 day, 24 hour program consisting
of keynote and invited speakers, discussions on papers and articles
posted on the conference site, poster presentations, roundtable
discussions, panels, organized "tours" of Internet sites
and more. There will also be pre-conference workshops which offer
hands-on tutorials for presenters and participants.
Why bother?
|
|
To
participate in our virtual conference, you don't have to travel
anywhere. The furthest you need to go is to the nearest computer
connected to the Internet! |
| |
|
 |
You get
a chance to meet with teacher educators from all over the world:
an opportunity that exists only thru the Internet! |
| |
|
 |
Unlike
a face to face conference, there is plenty of time beforehand
to read papers and articles posted on the site, and then meet
with presenters and other colleagues in fruitful in-depth discussions
later online. |
| |
|
 |
The conference
is organized in an exciting way using a variety of technologies
and interactions. Using these technologies during the conference
will be a painless way to learn them. You can then plan to integrate
them into your classes later on. |
Cultural
and social activities
Between conference sessions, you can meet colleagues from all over
the world informally at the various falafel (a special Middle Eastern
food made of ground chick peas you can buy on the street) kiosks
and cafes. You can enjoy the Israeli experience by going on virtual
tours of Israel; we will have a daily Bible class and a glimpse
at Jewish folklore. Those who like shopping will have the opportunity
to do so with special offers for conference members. In addition
you can take part in quizzes - with prizes! And of course you get
a certificate for participating in the conference.
Share your
ideas; it's one of the important ways to keep growing!
Looking forward
to receiving a proposal from you and seeing you next February
at Opening
Gates in Teacher Education.
